Nailah Robinson is a multi-hyphenate Nigerian-American filmmaker from PG County, MD by way of Lenoir, NC. She is passionate about intersectional storytelling leading to her work often featuring underrepresented groups, BIPOC, women, and characters from varied social classes. Nailah believes experience and human interaction are the foundations for all great stories. She previously studied developmental and social psychology which has been foundational for her craft.
Nailah’s work has played festivals all over the world including the Tribeca Film Festival, American Black Film Festival, Essence Fest, Aesthetica, and Hollyshorts to name a few. Her work’s been nominated/ won an NAACP Image Award, BSC Best Short, and Best Narrative Short. It’s appeared on CBS, ESPN, Nickelodeon, Disney+, and Hulu.
Nailah is a former Project Involve Fellow, has worked with Film Independent’s Global Media Makers and AFI Directing Women’s Workshop, and has been a mentor for the Abu Dhabi Directing Workshop.
